Per Maine State Law, we require the Rabies vaccination to be fully up to date on all dogs over six (6) months of age, unless a written exemption is provided by a licensed veterinarian. We HIGHLY recommend all other vaccinations as per recommended by your personal veterinarian, including but not limited to the Bordetella vaccination, but we only require the Rabies vaccination at this time.
We do our very best to house your dog in the space they are most comfortable and is the safest for them. That may include a crate during feeding and/or rest times, and highly recommend all of our guests are crate trained so their visit with us is as seamless and as comfortable as possible. We do understand that not all dogs are able to be kenneled, and we do invite friendly, non-destructive dogs into the designated areas of our home if they are able to settle down without direct supervision.
We recommend all of our guests come to us with a flea & tick prevention prior to their stay. We will administer any doses needed should they be boarding during the time their preventative needs to be renewed, but we do require that owners provide that and the date that it is needed. Dogs that do not come with flea and tick preventative will need to be okay being sprayed down with our flea and tick sprays of choice. Any dogs found with parasites on them at drop-off will be given a bath and charged an additional $30 bathing fee on top of their stay's fee.
Absolutely not! We are very capable of giving medications to all kinds of pups. We do provide peanut butter, but any additional types of hideaways for pills should be provided upon drop-off. If your dog is unable to take medication and is posing a risk to us here, we will inform you and come up with a plan of how best to get their needed meds into them.
We only require that all visiting dogs are provided enough food to cover their entire stay. While you are more than welcome to pack anything you'd like, we do ask that you limit their belongings, and only pack non-sentimental items. We do provide treats of all kinds here, toys, and offer our boarders a fresh cow hoof upon arrival should owners desire that. We have tons of Kongs and other treat dispensing toys, as well as bowls/slow feeders and buckets for food and water.
We are more than happy to accommodate any delays in travel plans. We just ask that you keep us well informed of when we should be expecting your pup to go home, and be aware that if they do run out of food during that delay, we would factor in the cost of kennel food to their adjusted stay.
We do accept unneutered animals, but they are required to be crate trained if they are intact, and intact males will be charged an additional intact fee of +$15 per calendar day staying with us on top of our standard rate. Please also be aware that should they display any SSA (same sex aggression), that we will keep them crated during the times the dogs in conflict are out, and will rotate accordingly, and this also goes for any intact females in heat. We value safety above all else here.
We believe in a healthy routine with our playgroups, including the ability to settle and have light play inside throughout the day. Research has shown that constant activity all day for dogs can form bad habits and health issues, and while adult dogs should have at minimum 12-14 hours of rest per day, our daycare crew very consistently is made up of adolescent dogs, which benefit greatly with 14-18 hours of rest per day. Play is incredibly important to us, but maintaining the health and well-being of your pups is even more so! This schedule also helps in the event your dog boards with us, as we allow even more time for rest for our boarders to ensure they have a happy and healthy stay.
If the unthinkable happens and your dog does become ill/injured during their stay with us, we will utilize either your hospital of choice (your dog's primary vet is preferred) or our nearest animal emergency hospital, Animal Emergency Clinic of Mid-Maine in Lewiston, ME. We do ask that you are able to give them a call prior to their stay to inform they are staying with us, in which you would give them Christina's name and phone number to have on your account, or in the event of an emergency, are able to call and provide information to the vet that will be seeing your dog. All out of country trips require either an emergency contact that is listed in your veterinarian's system or a signed written letter with owner and payment information to provide to the veterinarian your dog would be seen by.
In the event that you are unable to pick up your dog and unable to care for them (ie. death, severe illness/disability, etc.), we will contact your emergency contact and take our next steps after consulting with them. We do ask that you give us at least one emergency contact that does not reside with you in the event of a household emergency.
Rover is a fantastic service that offers a ton of benefits to not only pet parents, but pet sitters as well. While they do include fees, this covers 24/7 customer service (for both you AND me!), as well as the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in vet care reimbursement for eligible claims related to injury to either the pet owner's or sitter’s pets. While Christina herself is insured and takes safety incredibly seriously to avoid any issues during a stay, we do require a liability waiver to be signed should you desire to book with us outside of Rover. They also price things a bit differently than we do here, going based on a 24hr schedule versus a calendar day schedule, so some services may be priced higher or lower depending on the requested stay.
